From Collapse to Contentment

I was born with poor health. My digestive and immune systems were compromised to the point that I had diarrhea frequently at just two months old. My mother was terrified that I would not live long.

Tough Start

Frail health followed me into adulthood. Most of the time. I suffered from pain and discomfort all over my body. I had difficulty falling asleep and was awakened by the slightest sound. Doctors were unable to come up with a diagnosis. I was deemed to have an “abnormal body condition,” but no insight was provided as to why or what to do about it.

In 1982 I was diagnosed as having acute malnutrition. My weight dropped from 49 to 42 kilograms within a short period of time. I was chronically cold and in pain, and my condition worsened whenever I ventured outdoors or was exposed to wind. Even in the heat of summer I had to wear warm clothing.

A Series of Blows

Things went from bad to worse when I was involved in a serious car accident in August 1991. Lumbar disc herniation, sciatica, and other complications of the accident added to my woes. I had difficulty sitting or standing for more than five minutes. I could not walk long distances nor climb the stairs. Regardless of how I adjusted myself to avoid putting pressure on my lumbar. pain plagued me anyway and I had difficulty falling asleep. Watching others move about freely caused me great envy.

In 2008 I was diagnosed with a cyst in my uterus. During the operation to remove it, the doctor found that my uterus and internal organs were fused together. This discovery added hours to the surgery. Post-op. my body weakened further. I was on the brink of physical and emotional collapse, and my family was very worried about me.

Later on, my health improved slightly. I decided to make some financial investments. Unfortunately, the investments failed and I lost money. Depression overwhelmed me and I lost all hope for my future. In August 2009 I was diagnosed as clinically depressed. In December 2011 a fainting spell landed me in hospital. I woke up with an indescribable sense of sadness and thoughts of suicide.

Coming Into the Light

Then Bodhi Meditation came into my life. In April 2015 I joined the 8.5-Day Health & Happiness Retreat at Seoul White Jade Bodhi Meditation Center. Initially when I was practicing The Meditation of Greater Illumination, it was a struggle just to raise my hands. However, I persisted in practicing for the benefit of my health. I started to see a ray of hope. I felt clouds of gas being emitted from my body as if all my illnesses were being expelled. My confidence in meditation increased.

After two months of diligent practice. I could do The Meditation of Greater Illumination with ease and was able to raise my hands. Five months later. I could practice for three hours consecutively and sleep for six uninterrupted hours a night. I felt energetic upon waking.

In September 2015 I joined the Second Level Bodhi Meditation Retreat. Throughout the retreat I could feel a surge of energy in my stomach moving upward; this energy caused me to burp, cough and spit up phlegm during every energy-blessing session. This cleansing process left my body feeling deeply relieved. After the retreat, I was happier and saw things in a positive light. Longstanding negative thoughts and anxieties were gone.

In December 2016 I committed to 108 days of practice. Each day, I practiced for seven hours, including The Meditation of Greater Illumination, Energy Bogus, chanting, and full prostration. Sciatica and lumbar disc herniation were no longer hindering my life. I continued to sleep soundly at night, and I could walk and climb stairs as ably as agile young people.

My health continues to improve through daily practice. No longer do I feel cold — I’ve started wearing short-sleeved blouses. My weight has increased to a healthy 52 kilograms. Seeing the changes in me, my family members are very happy and have joined me at Bodhi Meditation.

Bodhi Meditation has changed my life. Once in despair. I am now healthy and content. I am committed to following in Grandmaster JinBodhi’s footsteps by helping many people to gain lasting health and happiness.

The intent of the testimonial is to offer wellness information of a general nature. Individual results of practice may vary.
